Project Overview

One Liner: Faster and more efficeint waffles.

Abstract

Breakfast is an important part of the day. It tends to be towards the beginning of daily routines and ensures that people have ample energy to last them until lunch. Unfortunately, research shows that not enough people have a hearty breakfast. This can lead to a lack of energy, difficulty concentrating, and increased irritability. In the rush of getting ready, breakfast is one of the first things that gets neglected. The convenience of pushing a button and walking away from a machine makes it great during morning rushes. While people have coffee makers and tea kettles with this option, why not a solid food option with the same mechanics? This is why waffle makers are present in many college dining halls and hotels that offer a continental breakfast. Simply flip, walk away, and in a short amount of time users have a delicious breakfast item that doesn’t need utensils to eat but can also be customized with toppings depending on the lifestyle of the user. Speed is essential to making these waffles, as that’s the selling point. The focus of our project is to bring Golden Waffle’s hardware up to date with newer technology. This includes better maintenance interfaces, easier disassembly for repairs, a robust display with more information, and interchangeable plates where a variety of foods can be enjoyed fast and easy. The upgrades to this waffle maker add convenience for those days when users don’t think they have enough time for a meal.
