Learn English, by using colors!
A program that associates each sound in the English language with a color, which can help learners understand which sounds to make when pronouncing words. This method, used in the language teaching model “The Silent Way”, never became a mainstream learning method due to the accessibility of attaining teaching materials. Our program will solve the colorizing text problem, making this a viable tool teachers, including our stakeholder Bill Albertson, can easily integrate into the classroom.
GattegnoType will solve the colorizing text problem inherent to the teaching method within “The Silent Way”, making this a viable tool that educators can easily integrate into the classroom. The application is intended to translate text, documents, and possibly even live camera text to the color-coded system. One other feature we would like to achieve is accounting for coarticulation. The application will implement the MediaWiki API and a POS Tagging API in order to correctly colorize text. The system will also implement a PDF generation tool. The system will handle the correct colorization of text through the TIM and be able to manage revision files.
