Project Overview

One Liner: A smart solution for teachers: Randomized, customizable paper tests at the click of a button

Abstract

Since the advent of Large Language Models, many teachers are returning to paper exams. The easy at which students can cheat during online testing has dropped. This has caused teachers to distrust students and the result of online tests. Paper exams remove this concern.

There are many systems for generating randomized computer tests. Multiple choice and matching questions can be shuffled. Different versions of questions can be generated. Numerical answers can be created with randomization. All majority of systems with these features are designed for online testing. The options for paper tests are limited.

We propose a web-based system for creating and managing paper test questions. Teachers will be able to create a variety of question types. They can be sorted into folders and tagged with topics for searching and organization. A test can be built by selecting individual questions or randomly selecting questions from folders.

The program will then generate zip file containing LaTeX source and PDFs of the test and answer keys. The papers can be downloaded and given to students.
