078 - Odin board Project
Project Overview
One Liner: The GAP FPGA Development Board
Odin is a dual-FPGA development board: a Lattice ECP5 (LFE5U-25F) with a fully open toolchain path, a
Xilinx Artix-7 (XC7A50T), and an RP2040 supervisor that programs both. Revision 1.0 exists: schematic,
prototype hardware, an Ada RP2040 programmer firmware, a NEORV32 soft-core SoC with firmware, and
a host application. Students take the board from working prototype to finished product — closing the
remaining peripheral gaps (dual RJ45 Ethernet, VGA, PS/2, a precision DAC paired with the existing
ADC), designing the keyed expansion connector system, completing the layout in EasyEDA for JLCPCB
assembly with best bang-for-the-buck LCSC parts, bringing up and validating every subsystem,
implementing the NEORV32 debug probe in Ada on the RP2040, and publishing everything open source.
The deliverable is revision 1.1: assembled boards that pass a full integration test suite, a proven EasyEDA
extension board template, and complete documentation. Odin becomes the reference hardware platform for
the GNAT Academic Program.
