Abstract

Virtual Economist is a full-stack AI-powered web application. It is designed to help users make decisions about U.S cities and the stock market. The app has two main agents: a Housing/City Agent that analyzes real estate, income, and weather data across cities; and a Stock/Market Agent that surfaces insights on analyst recommendations, insider/institutional ownership, and sector performance. The app is built with a TypeScript frontend and Python backend, it uses OpenAI models for natural language understanding, embedding search, and SQL generation. The app uses user authentication, chat history, and a PostgreSQL database enhanced with pgvector and jsonb.
