Project Overview

One Liner: A 2D action platforming rougelite where dice rolls determine nearly everything in the game!

Abstract

Demon Dice (WORKING TITLE) is a 2D action platforming roguelite where dice rolls determine nearly everything in the game. The dungeons are generated dynamically based on the rolls of your dice, meaning you can manipulate the level to provide you with the resources you need. The dungeon boss, however, also has dice, which are rolled to negatively affect your run. It's like a game of dice being played between you and the dungeon boss, and the outcome of the game affects the roguelite gameplay.

The game will have cumulative progress in the form of the TCG-style dice face collecting. Doing well in a run earns you blind packs that you can open; each blind pack has a dice face. Before you start a run, you select a character (each character, in addition to having their own movesets and abilities, has a blank dice with some number of faces on it [D4, D6, D10, D20, etc.]), and then you select dice face cards from your collection to put on the faces of your dice. Cards will have rarities and will interact with each other in unique ways, such as amplifying effects of adjacent faces, so half of the strategy of the game will come from assembling your overpowered dice to try and take down the dungeon boss.
