Belong is a web application aimed towards addressing the problem of loneliness among people.
Belong is a web application that addresses the root problem of loneliness by providing a platform for users to arrange impromptu activities with each other.
In 2022, Cigna found that 58% of adults in the U.S. were lonely, four percentage points higher than in 2018. In each of their studies from 2018 to 2022, each successive generation is lonelier than the last. Many past attempts at solving the loneliness problem have been geared toward the elderly, but this is a problem that is faced by all people in the modern world. It is also difficult to solve the problem as social media sites nowadays are focused on gathering user data and keeping people using their applications, rather than helping people meet up in person. ‘Belong’ attempts to alleviate the loneliness problem by offering a web app that allows people to sign up, create, and join activities. This interface allows people to connect with each other and develop a meaningful community based on personalized interests.
