Making medical writer’s lives easier.
AOIC, LLC is a medical and scientific communications organization that provide content-rich support to Biopharmaceuticals and health nonprofit organizations. AOIC’s mission is to advance medicine and patient care in two ways: Collaborating with researchers, healthcare professionals, biopharmaceutical companies, and other life science organizations to communicate preclinical, clinical, and health outcomes data. Helping nonprofit partners educate patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals about treatment advancements and quality-of-life challenges to daily living. AOIC wishes to explore uses of AI in this domain to assist medical writers in the efficiency and speed of delivery of written projects such as manuscripts, and conference submissions (abstracts, posters, and oral presentations). These materials are derived from internet background research, proprietary data from lab and clinical studies, and real-world evidence. These projects can take anywhere from 1 month to 9 months, but speed is desired by our clients. Accuracy of these projects is critical. Plagiarism is closely monitored. Students will have great latitude to give direction on this project as it is largely exploratory.
LobsterAI is a research project looking at how to create a first draft manuscript from a drug trial protocol. This involves taking a protocol, which is an internal document of dense text and figures detailing how an experiment was performed, and condensing it into a manuscript ready to be published in a medical journal. A first draft can take 20-30 hours of human work, and often involves formulaic and repetitive steps. Our research focuses on using AWS tools to create a solution to produce an accurate partial or total rough draft of a manuscript for a given protocol. Because these documents are proprietary and internal, security is also a key factor.
